Intake Cam Pulley Lock Tool
This cam pulley lock tool holds the intake cam wheel on the vertical cylinder in place during cam belt installation. Essential tool for cam belt replacement/valve adjustment operations on all Pre-DVT 4-valve Ducatis. Select the proper tool for your application. I recommend purchasing the castle nut socket tool for rotating the intake cam into the proper position. It can be done by hand, but it is very difficult.
NOTE1: The tool only locks the intake cam in place. The exhaust cam needs to be able to rotate slightly when installing the belts. The tool is only necessary on the vertical (rear) cylinder.
NOTE2: This tool will NOT work on DVT engines. A tool isn’t necessary for that engine
NOTE3: I count on owners to determine whether their 996 motor has ST heads or not. The rocker pin cover plate between the cams on each head are different on the variants. The older 916-style head has 4 bolts holding on the plate and the ST -style head has 5 bolts holding on the cover plate (1 bolt is hidden partly from view beneath the oil banjo fitting).
Fitment Guide:
S4- 851-888-748 and 996 (without ST Head) = Type A
S4R – ST4 – ST4S and 996 (with ST Head) = Type B
